SPRING BRANCH SCHOOL

(Picture unavailable. Unless someone out there has one ???)

North of Clearlake Oaks by several miles is Long Valley, which IS a long valley. When the Long Valley School was moved to the western end of the valley, it was too far for some children to attend. So the Spring Branch School District was formed from part of the Cache Creek School District in 1886. It was located 200 yards south of the old Quigley residence and was near the Long Valley hill road on the east side (between what later became the Tennessee Ernie Ford place and the Frank Hanson place).

Among the early teachers were Prof. Newton and his wife,   Mrs. Charles Gillette,   Lizzie Nicoll,  Mrs. Polly (Hanson) Bonham,   and probably Bessie Dinsmore

July 11, 1908 - Spring Branch School District lapsed; to become a part of the Cache Creek School District.

October 6, 1908 - The property of the Spring Branch School to be distributed to Burns Valley and Twin Valley School Districts.

1891 - Teacher - Lizzie Nicoll,   Board Clerk - Nannie Dishmore
